Description
This timeless, compelling face reflects its own image. Set within the doorway formed by Barnwood and an antique Underwood typewriter and keyboard, the child’s overlapping and mirrored face seems to go back in time to a bygone era.
Process: my original photographs are digitally montaged, printed in carbon-based photo ink, and transferred onto a prepared mono-printed ground with gel medium on gessoed hardwood. Further water-based pigment glazes enhance the sepia toned effect of the black and white imagery.
Finish: multiple coats of protective Kumar varnish.
Substrate: the cradled panel is Gessobord by Ampersand. (Archival surface; formaldehyde-free sustainable forest products; made in the USA)
Frame: revealing the edge of the cradled panel, this wood floater frame is painted a deep espresso brown-black; wired and ready to hang.
