Untitled (Shovel Point)

Description

This untitled original evokes the light, wind and water of Lake Superior’s North Shore as seen through tree silhouettes. Wind breaks, planted from the Great Plains across the prairie lands of southern Minnesota, provide the tree formations. Trees that I photographed from various Minnesota sites are: Scotch Pine, Minneapolis; Red Oak, Univ. of Minn. Arboretum, Chanhassen; Black Spruce and the remains of a Birch tree, Shovel Point at Tettegouche State Park.  Completing the composition are accent headers, in charcoal-stained oak, that finish the top and bottom of panel.
